The American Pitbull Terrier (APBT) or Pitbull was bred in 19th century America specifically for dog fighting. Probably originating from Bulldog, and some terrier, a Pitbull is known for its tenacity, courage and confidence. Because its nature is to be aggressive with other dogs and it is a powerful, athletic animal, an APBT needs responsible handling and training. A Pitbull is a hard-working dog that wants to please its owners and is gentle with those it loves.
